Childhood Contains Unique Challenges
Childhood can be a time of great joy, but the various stages of development can involve unique challenges. Each developmental stage offers its own unique challenges for your child. The changing stages can be tricky for parents, as it is difficult to know exactly what is right for your children at each new stage as it emerges.
Our Work Together
Since each developmental stage and individual child requires slightly different types of interventions, we tailor treatment to the specific needs of your child. Caritas seeks to guide each child along their respective developmental paths integrated with the truth and beauty of the Catholic Faith to become the best version of themselves.
We work with children from ages 8-18. We implement various types of therapy including Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, Parent-Child Interactive Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Beyond this, we seek to identify the God given strengths of each child, and work from there. We also like to help utilize these strengths in order to give each child new meaning frameworks within which to view the challenges they face and the world itself.
We Specialize in Attention Deficit Disorder
Caritas specializes in working with children and adolescents who have Attention Deficit Disorder and or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. People with A.D.D. or A.D.H.D. are sometimes looked at negatively in our society, but the reality is that they are very unique individuals who excel above the average population in many areas of life. While it is important to not labeled them as “the troubled kids,” it is important for them to be cognizant of managing their A.D.D. in order to allow their unique God-given talents to flourish.
“It is not enough to love the children, it is necessary that they are aware that they are loved.”
Catholic Faith Development
We also seek to help further the development of your child's Catholic faith journey. We can help your children to better understanding what they have already and are learning about their Catholic faith in Catechism, Catholic schools, and at home. We help to bring the Theological concepts to them in ways which tap into their existing motivational template. This allows us to tailor teaching to each child in subtly different ways. We guide them in how to navigate the secular world in ways which actually enhances their faith and relationship with God. We bring the faith into their interpersonal lives, teaching them how it can be a part of each and every day and the relationships they foster. We apply unique methods to hep your child truly understand their faith in a way which makes sense to them at their respective developmental stage.
Inner Life Development
To many children in our fast-paced world, the idea of an inner life is an after thought at best. They believe that the exterior world is “where it’s at.” This is partially true - the exterior aspects of the world are important - but the reality is that developing a healthy and flourishing interior life is the perfect recipe to help children thrive in today’s fast paced world. The interior life enhances energy, helps to calm anxiety/uplift depression, unleashes inner potential, and fosters fortitude to navigate the ups and downs of growing up. Therefore, at Caritas we focus on developing a strong interior life in a fun and cool way - which children of today can relate to. They will be able to carry these interior principles with them for the rest of their life.
“Faith formation is more than a subject to be taught - it is an invitation to a way of life.”
